Contents of this Gymnastics Drills and Conditioning Book There are over 100 drills and conditioning exercises in this book!
These drills and conditioning exercises will help speed the learning process and better prepare the gymnast physically and mentally for skills, series, and routines. When these drills are performed frequently and consistently the gymnast becomes accustomed to performing the correct shapes and the correct sequence of muscle contractions necessary for certain gymnastics skills. Even the best coach in the world, Bela Karolyi, believes in using drills to teach and refine skills. He reminded the coaches to continue implementing drills on a daily basis during coaches meetings at his Camp. (Karen Goeller, the author, was among those coaches and was his first female camp director.)
Every gymnast must master the skills addressed in this drills and conditioning book. The topics include Running, Vaulting, Dance, Uneven Bars, and Press Handstand. In the bars section there are drills for the glide kip, cast handstand, and clear hip circles while in the dance section there are drills and conditioning for split leaps and the hip flexor muscles to help with the straddle jump and glides on uneven bars.
The best way to ensure your gymnast's safety is to condition their body and mind to perform each movement involved in the skill and then condition them to perform the entire skill without interruption.
